On 6 May 2026, ECOFLOURISH partners took part in a dedicated Special ECOFLOURISH Session within the international scientific conference Human and Nature Safety 2026. The session provided an opportunity to present the project’s research activities to a wider scientific and professional audience and to discuss how agroecological approaches, biodiversity protection and digital innovation can contribute to more sustainable berry production systems.

During the session, ECOFLOURISH partners delivered oral scientific presentations linked to the main research directions of the project. Topics addressed included agroecological production systems, biodiversity, pollination, Nature-Based Solutions, Living Lab approaches and digital monitoring. These themes closely reflect the interdisciplinary structure of ECOFLOURISH and its aim to combine ecological, technological and socio-economic perspectives. The conference proceedings also included several papers authored by ECOFLOURISH researchers on smart berry orchard systems, agroecological Living Labs, Nature-Based Solutions and fruit and berry pollination.

A key focus of the session was the role of Living Labs as real-life experimentation environments where researchers, farmers and other stakeholders can jointly test and evaluate new approaches. Partners discussed how Living Labs can support agroecological transitions by linking scientific research with practical farming conditions, stakeholder needs and local knowledge.

The session also addressed the growing role of digital and AI-supported monitoring in sustainable agriculture. Discussions considered how digital tools, environmental monitoring and data-driven approaches can support the assessment of crop and soil conditions, biodiversity and ecosystem processes, while providing a stronger evidence base for farm management decisions.

The dedicated ECOFLOURISH session created an important space for scientific exchange beyond the project consortium. Questions and discussions with researchers and professionals attending the conference helped to place the project’s activities within a broader scientific context and generated additional perspectives relevant to the development of project methodologies and future research.

Participation in Human and Nature Safety 2026 also strengthened the dissemination of early ECOFLOURISH results and increased the visibility of the project within the scientific community. The session demonstrated how the project connects agroecology, biodiversity, digital innovation and stakeholder co-creation to support the transition towards more resilient and sustainable berry production systems.
