EcoFlourish Researchers Publish New Scientific Papers

Researchers participating in the ECOFLOURISH consortium have contributed to the 2026 edition of Human and Nature Safety, a peer-reviewed scientific publication published by Vytautas Magnus University. The papers address several themes closely aligned with ECOFLOURISH, including sustainable berry production, biodiversity, digital monitoring, Nature-Based Solutions, agroecological Living Labs and pollination services. The publication is indexed in the EBSCO Central & Eastern European Academic Source database.

Included Research Papers

Lithuania

Smart Berry Orchard Systems: Integrating Biodiversity and Digital Monitoring for Sustainable Production.

Authors: Audronė Ispiryan, Rasa Pakeltienė

This paper explores how biodiversity-supporting practices such as flower strips, hedgerows and habitat conservation can be combined with soil sensors, remote sensing and smart pest monitoring to improve the sustainability and resilience of berry production.

Nature-Based Solutions and the Bioeconomy as Pillars of Human and Ecosystem Safety.

Romania

This study examines how Nature-Based Solutions and bioeconomy strategies can jointly support ecosystem restoration, biodiversity conservation, climate adaptation, circular resource use and long-term socio-ecological resilience.

Authors: Alina Butu, Marian Butu, Izabela Stancu, Steliana Rodino

Advancing Human and Nature Safety Through Agroecological Living Labs.

Romania and Lithuania

This paper highlights Living Labs as collaborative environments where farmers, researchers, policymakers and other stakeholders can co-create and test agroecological practices under real farming conditions.

Authors: Marian Butu, Audronė Ispiryan, Alina Butu, Steliana Rodino

France

Perspectives on the Pollination of Fruits and Berries.

This paper discusses the importance of pollination for fruit and berry production and shows how agroecological measures, including flower strips, hedgerows and reduced pesticide use, can help restore wild pollinator communities while supporting crop productivity and farming resilience.
